Netflix has officially revealed the launch date for the second series of a smash-hit comedy which swiftly became a viewer favourite last year.

Boasting an all-star ensemble, side-splitting humour and compelling family drama, the new programme co-created by Mindy Kaling became the platform’s top show during its inaugural week of release last February.

Twelve months after the first series arrived, Netflix has now confirmed that viewers won’t need to wait much longer for Running Point series two.

The superb sports comedy centring on Kate Hudson’s Isla Gordon, who becomes the first female president of the fictional NBA franchise the Los Angeles Waves, will return on Thursday, 23rd April.

Loosely inspired by the real-life basketball legend Jeanie Buss, former owner of the LA Lakers, the programme follows Isla’s battles to retain control of her franchise whilst simultaneously managing the relentless drama of her equally troubled family, reports

Co-starring the likes of Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Chet Hanks, and Justin Theroux, countless viewers will be delighted to see Running Point returning just over twelve months after its spectacular debut.

A synopsis released by Tudum reveals: “With the head coach spot wide open, a heartbreaking late-season loss in the recent rearview, and Isla’s most unstable brother back in the mix, the new season of Running Point promises to be another hilarious, compulsively watchable chapter.”

Alongside announcing the release date for series two, Netflix has unveiled its first glimpse at the returning ensemble, plus several fresh additions including Ray Romano and Ken Marino. Further newcomers comprise Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Jake Picking, Blake Anderson, Duby Maduegbunam, and Aliyah Turner.
