Police warn more suspects at large in alleged mistaken identity murder of Chris Baghsarian

Police have issued a warning after the latest arrests in relation to the alleged kidnapping and murder of an 85-year-old grandfather.

A top cop investigating the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian has warned suspects remain at large after making two more arrests in the case.

Mr Baghsarian was snatched from his home North Ryde home in Sydney’s northwest about 5am on February 13, sparking a frantic 11-day search.

It is alleged he was kidnapped and murdered in a case of mistaken identity and his remains were discovered near a Pitt Town golf course in Sydney’s northwest.

On Wednesday, NSW Police confirmed that two young men have been arrested in connection with his kidnapping and death.

But Superintendant Stuart Gordon, who is leading the investigation, revealed the new arrests may not be the last linked to the tragedy.

“These two males were arrested and charged with the kidnapping of Mr Baghsarian and with his murder. Like the other four, these remain behind bars, bailed refused,” he said.

“We believe there are a number of other persons involved in various ways in the disappearance of Mr Baghsarian and the resulting murder.

“Our investigations will not stop until each and every one of them has been apprehended.”

Police allege Mr Baghsarian was being held captive in a safe house in Dural in Sydney’s northwest before his murder.

Detectives searched a home in Shalvey, in Sydney’s west, on Tuesday morning and arrested a 19-year-old man.

A short time later, a 21-year-old from Silverwater was arrested.

“These arrests were made after an extensive investigation that has been going on since Mr Baghsarian’s disappearance,” Superintendant Gordon said.

“This is obviously a terribly difficult time for any family and (Mr Baghsarian’s family) they have been incredibly strong throughout this.”
