Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have re-entered the Oprah Winfrey orbit five years after their bombshell interview, in which they made explosive claims about royal life and their treatment inside the monarchy.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an unexpected virtual appearance at an Oprah Daily event earlier today.

By doing so, they joined a celebration for a newly released book focused on helping young people disconnect from their devices.

The occasion marked the launch of “An Amazing Generation”, co-authored by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price, with the publication formerly known as O, the Oprah Magazine, hosting the gathering.

Prince Harry and Meghan joined via video link to speak with the authors about their work.

The couple appeared relaxed during the conversation, with the Duke of Sussex dressed in a quarter-zip fleece and the Duchess of Sussex wearing pink.

The book provides teenagers with practical strategies for enjoying life beyond their screens whilst developing healthier relationships with technology.

Mr Haidt and Ms Price’s publication aims to demonstrate that time spent away from digital devices can be engaging and fulfilling for young people.

The duke and duchess have long championed the cause of reducing smartphone use among children, citing concerns about the impact on mental health.

Both Harry and Meghan have been vocal advocates for protecting young people from the potential psychological harm associated with excessive screen time and online activity.

Their participation in the event underscores their ongoing commitment to this particular area of child welfare.

During the video conversation, Prince Harry praised the authors’ contribution to the field, stating: “Over the years we’ve worked with you on how the digital spaces are deeply affecting our collective mental, emotional and physical health.

“And obviously a huge congratulations to you and the outcome of your research which has created a parent-led movement which is astonishing and much-needed.”

The duchess added: “And that we’re proud to be a part of.”

Harry went on to explain that the insights provided by Mr Haidt and Ms Price have informed his and Meghan’s efforts working alongside parents who have tragically lost children due to dangers associated with phones and online platforms.

The couple established The Parents’ Network in 2024 through their charitable organisation Archewell Philanthropies, previously known as the Archewell Foundation.
