he BBC’s hit mystery thriller, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, has confirmed the release date for season two. The gripping series will return with six new episodes on BBC iPlayer on 27 May, ahead of its transmission on BBC One and BBC Three.
Season one of the twisty, dark crime series followed teenager Pip Fitz-Amobi as she investigated the murder of a 17-year-old girl in her small and sleepy town. In season two, Pip faces the fallout from the case.

Emma Myer stars as Pip in the crime drama series
The drama, which scored an impressive 83 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, was a huge hit for the BBC when it first arrived on our screens in the summer of 2024 and became BBC Three’s highest-rated drama since its relaunch.
The series is based on Holly Jackson’s bestselling novels and was adapted for the screen by Poppy Cogan, who has writing credits on Prime Video’s Steal and the psychological thriller Chloe.

In season two, Pip is determined to fix the fallout of the Andie Bell case and stay away from any more investigations. But as Max Hastings’ trial approaches, Connor’s brother Jamie suddenly disappears, and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him.

The synopsis continues: “It’s all systems go as new pictures reveal Pip (Emma Myers) and her friends back on the pursuit. With Jamie (Eden H Davies) missing and time running out, the pictures reveal Pip, Ravi (Zain Iqbal), Cara (Asha Banks), Lauren (Yali Topol Margalith), and Connor (Jude Morgan-Collie) reunited, unravelling new secrets, leads, and mysteries.
“And as Pip prepares to face Max (Henry Ashton) in court, his cousin Robin (Freddie England) starts dating Lauren, becoming a controversial new member of their friendship group.”

The series returns with six new episodes in May
One person wrote on social media: “Just finished watching this and thought it was excellent,” while another fan, who read the 2019 novel, praised the adaptation and leading actress Emma Myers, adding: “Really enjoyed #Agoodgirlsguidetomurder on BBC. As a fan of the books I thought they did a really good job. Yeah some things were cut but really good. Emma was great.”
As for the critical response, The Guardian described season one as a “very modern Nancy Drew,” in its three-star review, adding, “it’s such perfect fun you won’t even care about the plot holes.”

Meanwhile, Variety noted that while the plot becomes “jumbled and far-fetched”, the series “engagingly unpacks the anguish of being a teenage girl, the complexities of friendship and the deceptiveness of appearances”.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season two will arrive on BBC iPlayer on Wednesday 27 May.
