On Thursday, The Sun exclusively revealed that the bombshell had left the show due to ‘private reasons’ with his final scenes airing in tonight’s episode.

It was islander Lorenzo who announced the 28-year-old professional footballer’s exit from the villa, with his co-stars reacting in shock.

“Guys I have some news,” said Lorenzo. “George has left the villa for private reasons and he won’t be coming back.”

The announcement was met with cries of ‘What?’ and ‘Seriously?’ as they took the news in.

“Oh George, we love you George,” Robyn said, who was one of two girls George was getting to know in the villa.

“I can’t believe it, I actually cannot believe it,” she continued in a separate piece-to-camera. “He was the only person I was kind of interested in.”

Mica who was coupled up with George said: “I would have loved to have been able to say goodbye but I just hope he’s okay really.”

In a statement shared on his social media after leaving Love Island, the star revealed he took the decision to leave after learning heartbreaking news from home.

“Family comes first, always,” George began, as he broke his silence online.

“Leaving the @loveisland Villa was a decision made in order to be with my family. Out of respect for them, I’d prefer not to go into any further detail.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kind messages and support! It genuinely means a lot.”
