“You think it would be impossible for us to be shocked by Donald Trump,” he said. “But give the man credit: Every so often, he takes the time to attach the electrodes to our nipples, and then it feels like the first time.”

“We’re just nine months into Trump’s term, and he’s going ‘Hulk smash’ on the White House,” Colbert said. “Last time, it took him at least four years to bring a demo crew to the Capitol.”

With that, he played footage of the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol carried out by Trump supporters.

“Yesterday at the White House, Trump talked about his wrecking ballroom,” Colbert noted. “And the one thing I don’t think we make enough fun of is how his brain is filled with cotton-candy fantasies of lavish princely soirees.”

Colbert rolled footage of Trump going on and on about what the ballroom will be like while speaking at an event intended to honor two college baseball teams.

“So you’ll have drinks, cocktails, everything on this floor, and then they’ll say, ‘Welcome to dinner.’ You walk into the ballroom, ‘Mr. Senators,’ and you’re gonna see a ballroom the likes of which, I don’t think it will be topped,” Trump said.

Colbert mocked the idea as Trump’s “Barbie dream ballroom,” and ripped the president for fantasizing about his parties in the middle of a government shutdown.
