Yellowstone creator’s blockbuster movie just got huge update
Taylor Sheridan is working on his next major project but it’s not all good news.
If you happen to be among the select few who play Call of Duty purely for its storyline each year, you’re in for a treat.
The hugely popular shooter franchise is set to receive its very own big-screen adaptation, produced by Paramount Pictures.
Revealed at CinemaCon last night, the Call of Duty film is to be helmed by director Pete Berg, with Taylor Sheridan penning the screenplay.
Berg brings an impressive directing portfolio to the table, with credits including Deep Water Horizon, Lone Survivor and Battleship.
Sheridan, meanwhile, is widely recognised for the Yellowstone franchise as well as Mayor of Kingstown, Landman and his contributions to Sicaro and Hell or High Water.

Addressing the audience at CinemaCon, Berg said: “Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community.”
Details regarding the plot remain under wraps. Call of Duty boasts a wealth of sub-series to draw inspiration from, with Modern Warfare and Black Ops standing out as the two most beloved.
The original Modern Warfare, released in 2007, was arguably the title that firmly established single-player first-person shooters as a genre, making an adaptation of that particular storyline the most logical choice on paper.
Nevertheless, the finer points of the Call of Duty film appear yet to be finalised.
There remains ample time for everything to fall into place, however. The Call of Duty movie is currently scheduled for release on June 30, 2028.

That leaves fans with over two years to wait before one of gaming’s most iconic franchises makes its debut on the silver screen.
On a more positive note, video game adaptations are currently experiencing an enormous surge in popularity.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has just claimed the title of the second highest-grossing film of 2026 so far.
Both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are also receiving big screen treatments this year. A brand new Resident Evil film from Weapons director Zach Cregger is additionally set to arrive in September.
Will you be queuing up to catch the Call of Duty movie at your local cinema?
