Adrian Newey could be heading for an early exit at Aston Martin
Aston Martin are reportedly exploring options to replace Adrian Newey as Team Principal following a catastrophic opening to the 2026 Formula One campaign.
Former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is reportedly not under consideration as a potential successor, according to the reports.
The Silverstone-based outfit has endured a torrid beginning to the new season, with neither Fernando Alonso nor Lance Stroll managing to secure a single championship point across the Australian and Chinese Grands Prix.
Both drivers failed to reach the chequered flag at Shanghai, compounding what has been described as a nightmare scenario for the British constructor.

Christian Horner has reportedly been ruled out over replacing Adrian Newey
| REUTERSReports suggest considerable unrest within the organisation, with sources citing significant tension and disappointment amongst personnel.
Should a change materialise, it appears Newey would not face dismissal from the organisation entirely.
Instead, the legendary designer would likely transition into an alternative position within the team’s structure, allowing him to focus on his renowned technical capabilities rather than managerial responsibilities.
SoyMotor report that Aston Martin is actively seeking a new team principal to assume leadership of management duties and public relations functions.
The reports suggest Newey’s expertise lies in design rather than the demands of a high-profile directorial role.
The team’s difficulties were evident from the very outset of the campaign, with concerns arising over whether Aston Martin could even participate in the Melbourne season opener.

| PATwo of four Honda-supplied battery packs developed faults within the first hour of practice running at Albert Park.
Addressing the ongoing reliability concerns, Newey spoke candidly about the challenges facing the Honda partnership.
“They re-entered with let’s say only, I’m guessing, 30 per cent of their original team and now in a budget cap era,” he explained.
“So they started very much on the back foot and unfortunately they’ve struggled to catch back up.”

Adrian Newey is reportedly set to step down from his role at Aston Martin | GETTYDespite the swirling speculation, Aston Martin has moved swiftly to quash the reports surrounding Newey’s future.
A team spokesperson stated: “These reports are rumour and speculation. Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team remains fully committed to Adrian Newey as Managing Technical Partner & Team Principal.”
The emphatic denial suggests the British marque intends to weather the current storm with its existing leadership structure intact.

Aston Martin will have their next opportunity to register points when the championship resumes at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka next Sunday, where the pressure to deliver results will be considerable.
