Fernando Alonso reveals his son's real name as Formula 1 welcomes the newborn with a special gift

Fernando Alonso puts an end to rumors by revealing his son’s real name, who now also boasts his first F1 paddock pass

Fernando Alonso has stopped media speculation by revealing his son’s name. The two-time world champion became a father just weeks ago. He dismisses the tradition of naming his firstborn after himself. The baby, born from his relationship with Spanish journalist Melissa Jimenez, is not named Fernando.

Spanish media announced the news during the Suzuka weekend, later confirmed officially by the couple. Fernando Alonso, turning 45 this year, became a father for the first time. The Asturian driver has been living in Monaco with journalist Melissa Jimenez, 38, who already has three children from a previous relationship.

Their relationship remains one of the most private in the paddock. “Thankfully, everything went well, both for the mother and the baby. It’s a truly happy and special moment,” the two-time world champion told DAZN, confirming the birth. The Aston Martin driver joins the parent club on the grid, which already includes Max VerstappenSergio Perez, and Nico Hulkenberg.

For days, speculation surrounded the baby’s name, with Spanish media almost certain it was Fernando Jr. The Asturian himself debunked all rumors in a playful social media post, poking fun at newspapers that seemed to think they should teach him his own son’s name.

The truth has now been revealed: the two-time world champion’s firstborn is named Leonard Alonso Jimenez. Formula 1 also honored the newborn with his very first paddock pass, a special gesture appreciated by the family.
