Lewis Hamilton has released an eyebrow-raising statement on the eve of the 2026 Formula One season. The seven-time world champion endured a difficult 2025 campaign, failing to make the podium in any of the 24 races during his maiden season with Ferrari.

The new engine regulations have thrown a spanner in the works – quite literally – for teams across the grid, with drivers and constructors alike heading into the unknown. Hamilton will be desperate to put up a better showing in season two with Ferrari, but his pre-season preparations haven’t exactly gone perfectly.

Hamilton will enter the new season without a permanent race engineer, while the Brit has also criticised the feel of his new Ferrari car. But as the 2026 campaign approaches, Hamilton has taken some time out to reflect on things away from Formula One, including the impact of technology and AI in the workplace.

In a statement posted to his LinkedIn profile, Hamilton said: “One year ago, I began a new chapter with Scuderia Ferrari HP. It was a massive leap and with that comes a lot of learning. Whether you’re switching teams in F1 or pivoting in your own career, your willingness to learn will be your biggest advantage. Transitioning in this environment requires developing and redeveloping skills, like high-stakes collaboration and adaptability, while quickly picking up new ones to bridge the gap.

“As we head into the season opener in Australia, I’m reflecting on how much the landscape of ‘work’ is changing for all of us. Technology and AI are reshaping our industries, and while that can feel fast, it’s also a massive opportunity to future-proof how we lead and create. Leadership can depend on how quickly you adapt to changes and are willing to evolve. That’s what I did in my first year. I saw opportunities to learn and I took them.

“My advice? Stay curious. Don’t just focus on the traditional routes. Invest in the skills that make you human and the tools that make you faster. Your path is yours to create. Let’s make this season one to remember. Andiamo.”

Hamilton’s contract with Ferrari is set to expire at the end of the current season, but the 41-year-old has claimed he still feels fresh. Speaking to the official Formula One website, he remarked: “I love this job so much and I love working with my team and driving for the fans. I’m incredibly lucky to be able to do what I do, and I’m excited for the season ahead.

“I’m reset and refreshed. I’m not going anywhere, so stick with me. For a moment, I forgot who I was, but thanks to you and your support you’re not going to see that mindset again. I know what needs to be done. This is going to be one hell of a season. I’ve given everything to be here today. Let’s go team!”
