A thrilling international action-adventure film that debuted on Netflix this week has swiftly climbed to number six on the streaming giant’s chart of most-watched films.
The fresh buddy thriller, originating from France, centres around two old friends who reconnect after a woman they both loved dies under mysterious circumstances.
One of the duo has taken up the mantle of a police officer, whilst the other operates on the fringes of legality as a mercenary.
Upon discovering that their former love’s teenage daughter is seeking revenge and putting herself in peril, they’re compelled to set aside their differences and pursue her.

Netflix subscribers can expect top-notch action sequences as the new thriller is directed by Olivier Schneider, who previously served as a stunt coordinator for blockbuster Hollywood action films such as Spectre and Fast X.
Viewers who have already contributed to the film’s streaming success this week have lavished high praise on the must-see movie, with one IMDb user declaring it’s “the best thing on Netflix in [an] age.”
They continued: “If I was to describe this it’s lethal weapon with a bit of bullet and some 007 just for good measure not forgetting also The Sweeney from the 70’s.
“It’s an old story but it still works today the whole 90 minutes fly by there’s laughter tears and a few wtf it’s a whole lot of fun.”

The praise extended to Letterboxd, where one viewer declared: “Hot damn! Some really f***ing awesome stunts in this film and well crafted action scenes. GO SEE THIS!! It f***ing rocks.”
Another offered a hearty endorsement: “Lacking in story but making up for that with some pulse pounding action, this thriller rattles along at a fast pace and doesn’t require much thought.
“It’s well made, the first half is a little slow, making way for all the carnage in the second half. I really enjoyed it. If you like stuff like Lost Bullet, give this a go.”
French audiences also responded enthusiastically to The Orphans, with one sharing: “A very beautiful film! Great action scenes, stunts… Excellent work on the visuals as well, with magnificent shots of Biarritz.” (Translated from French).

Another enthused: “This action film offers epic scenes: fights, stunts, explosions, chases… It keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end!
“In contrast to the violence of some scenes, the script reveals a tenderness and a profound empathy between the main characters, portrayed by superbly talented actors.” (Translated from French).
Will you be buckling up for this explosive crime thriller that’s garnered such strong recommendations this week? Don’t let it pass you by.
The Orphans is available to stream on Netflix.
