During the task, where the brides and grooms met up with people they were almost matched with, grooms David and Scott quickly excused themselves and refused to take part.
As a result, they were ridiculed by fellow groom Danny, who joked that men used to “die in trenches” but now they hid in toilets to avoid talking to a woman.
But speaking to nine.com.au, David said Danny was in on the plan all along.
As a group, the grooms had attempted to get out of the task, but when that failed, they instead made a pact.

“The agreement was, we’ll sit for two minutes and then we’d all get up and leave,” David explained.
He assumed his co-star “just wanted his moment on camera” by mocking his fellow grooms.
“Danny acted like we dogged him when he was the one who just wanted to sit there and enjoy the time with the girls, essentially,” he said.

The Final Test ended up being the straw that broke the camel’s back for David and Alissa’s relationship.
After David watched her at the women’s lunch and was disrespected by her behaviour, he felt Alissa tried to invalidate his feelings.

Despite this, David said he had no regrets about how he personally did the task.
“I know Danny was taking the piss saying, ‘Oh, they’re scared to sit with a woman’ – I work with women, I have a mum, sister, I’m happy to talk to women,” David said.
“But the task was to meet with someone who was my potential replacement of Alissa. That was the task. So I didn’t participate, and I’d do it all over again.”
No regrets! (Nine)
After taking off his wedding ring, David said he was close to leaving the experiment and returning home to Brisbane.
Instead, he spent a couple of days alone in his apartment, and after coming down from the emotional high of their fight, made a plan on what to do next.
What exactly is that plan? Place your bets, before we see it play out when the final Dinner Party airs on Easter Monday.
