The comedian announced she was in remission in February.
Australian comedy icon Magda Szubanski is laying it all bare.
The comedian, who announced she was in remission from cancer in February, is set to release her “powerful and tender” new memoir in September.
Szubanski, 64, first announced in May last year she had been diagnosed with stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.
In February, the Kath & Kim star shared uplifting news following her battle, confirming in a heartfelt message she had completed chemotherapy and is now in remission.
In a statement shared on Sunday, Szubanski revealed her next career move post-cancer, saying the book will explore how she coped with the loss of her mother while becoming the face of Australia’s marriage-equality campaign.
In a video shared alongside the Instagram post, the Australian icon confirmed the upcoming release of her second memoir I Can’t Tell You But I Will was “not fake news”.

“2017 was the year I finally grew up. My mother was dying and I was catapulted into the forefront of a bitter cultural and political battle: the same-sex marriage survey,” Szubanski said.
“I Can’t Tell You But I Will is the true tale of how I came to understand the unseen powers that shape our world, and learned how to stand up to them while staying true to your soul and to the people you speak for.
“Most of all, though, it is a eulogy for my beloved mother, Margaret: like my Celtic ancestors, I am ‘keening’ her life, singing of the terrible beauty of caring for someone you love as they die.
“This is the story of how I went from comedian to campaigner, from daughter to orphan, and from naïve idealist to pragmatic warrior.”

Publisher and editor Michael Hayward of Text Publishing called the memoir “extraordinary”.
“It is a book about mothers and daughters, about courage, family and love,” Hayward said.
Szubanski added readers who enjoyed her first book Reckoning would likely connect with this one as well.
“I really hope that you enjoy it,” Szubanski ended the short clip.
“Love to you all.
“Still just tracking along. Bye now.”
