Meghan Markle has made headlines this week with her surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week at the weekend, marking her first major fashion show appearance in many years.

But it wasn’t just her stunning outfits that stole the spotlight. According to a body language expert, the Duchess of Sussex delivered a “flirty” gesture that oozed movie-star confidence for an after-party as she wowed in a daring black gown.

Meghan, 44, first arrived at the Balenciaga runway show in a chic, all-white ensemble: a flowing cape layered over a button-down shirt and tailored trousers, paired with black pointed-toe heels.

That look quickly gave way to something far more dramatic for the after-party: a black, backless gown with an asymmetrical high neckline and floor-length silhouette.

She was filmed leaving the Hôtel Plaza Athénée with close friend Markus Anderson by her side.

According to body language expert Judi James, Meghan’s demeanour noticeably shifted between the two events.

“Meghan’s body language here makes a mood switch-up,” Judi told The Mirror. “From the ‘Runway Royal’ look of the white outfit to something more movie queen, Holly Golightly with this black one.”

She noted that Meghan appeared more composed and polished during the runway show. However, she dialled up the glamour for her after-party entrance.

“Striding out” with “her arms at her sides,” Meghan even ushered others forward with a light touch on the back, an indication of leadership and ease.

But the highlight, according to Judi, was the perfectly timed over-the-shoulder glance Meghan gave as she approached her car.

She said: “With perfect timing… she suddenly turns her head to glance round at the cameras in an A-list flirty pose, just as they are treated to a view of her back, creating an over-the-shoulder glance that is usually performed on red carpets.”

Meghan’s reunion with Anna Wintour

Speculation has swirled online about why Meghan attended the Balenciaga show in particular.

According to a spokesperson for the duchess, her appearance was a personal show of support for Pierpaolo Piccioli, who she has worked with for years.

“Meghan has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo over the years. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” the statement explained.

“This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship. Reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”

Also raising eyebrows was Meghan’s friendly reunion with former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, following years of whispered tensions between the pair.

Footage showed the two exchanging cheek kisses and chatting warmly before Anna reportedly complimented her look.

“Beautiful, Cherie. You look amazing,” the fashion icon gushed, according to reports.
