In July 2025, CBS announced that the upcoming season of The Late Show will be its last. The network said the cancellation was “purely a financial decision,” per a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS. I’m not being replaced,” Stephen Colbert told the audience when he announced the news on July 17. “This is all just going away. And I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners.”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is set to wrap up in May 2026.

The new season of Late Night with Seth Meyers is set to debut on Sept. 2.

In 2024, the Saturday Night Live alum celebrated 10 years of Late Night with Seth Meyers, and in May of that year, it was announced that he would continue to host the show through 2028.

“I am not in any way, shape, or form bored with doing this,” Seth Meyers told Deadline. “Mostly because it’s constantly changing and you can try new things, thanks to the luxury of hours you can fill in a week. There’s always room for reinvention.”

The most recent episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers aired on Aug. 14, and it featured guests Pierce Brosnan and Sophie Turner.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! comes back to TV on Sept. 1.

This summer, for the fifth year in a row, Jimmy Kimmel took an extended summer break during July and August, during which several celebrity guest hosts filled in for him.

Diego Luna, Anthony Anderson, Nicole Byer, Alan Cumming and Fortune Feimster were among the stars who took his host seat.

“Tonight is my last show until Labor Day. I’m going to be off for the summer,” Kimmel said during the June 19 episode, per Deadline. “I don’t want to go either. They put it in my contract: I have to go to a fat camp every summer.”

“The truth is I’m going to spend the bulk of my summer at the Newark airport this year,” he quipped.
