Magda Szubanksi has hit out against those trying to take advantage of her cancer battle.

The 64-year-old took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a post on social media featuring two of her own photos and one of a woman in a hospital bed who bears a resemblance to her.

“Ok. Dear peeps. This lovely lady- whoever she is – is not me. I hope she’s doing well,” the Kath and Kim star began her post.

“But please don’t think it’s me and DEFINITELY DO NOT DONATE MONEY TO ANY MEDICAL FUNDRAISER THAT PURPORTS TO BE ME!!” she warned her fans.

“If you want the real me you can always find me here. Otherwise- it’s a scam. 😡😡😡Love to you all.”

Friends and fans were appalled by the deception.

Celebrity chef Julie Goodwin wrote, “Bloody lowlifes. Sending you so much love 💜”

Gogglebox star Isabelle Silbery added, “Omg that’s crazy”

One fan shared, “There’s only 1 bloody you. Sending love doll. Not cash but.”

Another added, “Magda, you are a HERO. The person attempting this? Not so much. Know that you have a steady stream of love and good vibes from across the pond.”

“Honestly people be better!! Thanks for the PSA Magda / Hope you’re doing well 😍” one said.

Others made light of the situation with jokes referencing Szubanksi’s character on Kath and Kim.

“plot twist: kim set this scam up to pay off her video shop fines,” one fan joked.

Another added, “That’s Brett’s mum Lorraine!” referencing a character who was in hospital.

In May 2025, Szubanski revealed her cancer battle, sharing an emotional video with fans and receiving an outpouring of support afterwards.

The beloved Aussie comedian shared the devastating news of her diagnosis in a video posted to Instagram in which she appeared with a shaved head “in anticipation of it all falling out”.

“I have just been diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive, very serious lymphoma. It is one of the nasty ones unfortunately,” she explained.
