One Tree Hill fans need to watch this ‘binge-worthy’ series saved by Netflix

This acclaimed comedy-drama created by two One Tree Hill stars has just been made available to watch on Netflix in the UK.

The programme was initially axed before Netflix offered it a lifeline.

Devotees of the beloved teen drama series One Tree Hill should not overlook this compelling new dramedy featuring two of the show’s former cast members.

Two of the CW show’s former stars, James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti who portrayed Nathan Scott and Chase Adams, joined forces to create Everyone Is Doing Great, which debuted on Hulu in 2021.

The series chronicles two struggling Hollywood actors, Seth (played by Colletti) and Jeremy (Lafferty), who frantically attempt to revive their careers five years following the conclusion of their hit vampire series, Eternal.

Despite the show proving a hit, including garnering an impressive 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, actors and creators Lafferty and Colletti crowdfunded the series through an Indiegogo campaign, amassing $250,000 (£183,700) to finance the first season.

This meant that the series wasn’t a Hulu original, so the creators were forced to begin afresh when producing the second season. Fortunately, the show secured a distribution deal with Netflix, which released season two in 2024. A third season is also in the early stages of development, but ahead of that coming to pass, both instalments of the series have finally been made available on Netflix UK as of today (Monday, 11th May).

Speaking to Deadline in 2018 ahead of the series’ launch, Lafferty said: “We started joking around about an alternate reality where we had just rested on our laurels [after ‘One Tree Hill’] and kept all of our eggs in the acting basket, instead of developing as writers, directors.

“That’s where we came up with these characters who are languishing for their own reasons and whose daily lives are this mixture of sadness and absurdity. The rest fell into place really quickly.”

One glowing 10/10 review from an IMDb user described the series as “great”, “real”, and “100% binge-worthy”.

“Glad these guys could make this show!” they enthused. “So much talent, rawness and harsh reality that seems to come along with being famous!”

While another viewer raved: “Amazing, so funny! As a OTH fan of course I was so excited to watch this. It’s so funny and real and I can’t wait for more seasons!!”
