Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade took aim at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement by labeling it as a ‘huge distraction’ to football season – ‘Andy Reid won’t be happy’

During the latest broadcast of Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade slammed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s recent engagement as he said it would be a ‘huge distraction right before football season.’

Speaking to fellow Fox co-hosts Ainsley Earhardt and Charles Hurt about the engagement, the trio speculated whether or not they think Kelce asked Swift’s father for permission. Hurt chimed in, asking, “Do we know where they’re gonna honeymoon?” Earhardt replied, “We don’t know any of that. We don’t know if they’re going to have a big wedding, if they’re gonna have a small wedding.”

Kilmeade then inserted, “I just know Andy Reid can not be happy. This is a huge distraction right before the season. But, I guess they’re used to it.”

Despite the Fox host’s best guess, many fans of the power couple think that Reid, who coaches the Kansas City Chiefs, would instead be delighted. Following their engagement, several took to social media to share memes and jokes about Reid’s stance on the engagement.

One person wrote, “need Andy Reid to officiate that wedding more than I’ve ever needed anything in my life”

“Andy Reid is cupid,” another wrote, referring to the fact that Reid knew Swift and her family before she began dating Kelce due to their links to the Philadelphia Eagles.

A third joked, “Andy Reid’s wedding speech will be about how he knew Taylor first.”

Reid and Swift’s relationship is rooted in the coach’s long-standing friendship with the singer’s father, Scott Swift, and their connection only got closer when Swift began her relationship with Travis.

Reid often praises Swift for her work-ethic, energy, and the positive impact she’s had on the game, particularly increasing NFL’s female fan base.

Swift has also spoken highly of Reid, calling him “legendary” and confirming their connection through her father, who is a big NFL and Eagles fan.

Swift and Kelce’s relationship has been a major publicity point for the NFL since it first became public in 2023.

When the pair first began dating, Swift attended several NFL games alongside the Kelce family and the couple’s friends.

Additionally, Kelce appeared at several of Swift’s Eras Tour dates, including an on-stage appearance during the London leg of the tour.

Fans also noticed references to Kelce in Swift’s performances, such as a lyric in “Karma” modified to say “the guy in the Chiefs,” which added to the allure of the popstar and athlete’s pairing.

Throughout 2024 and early 2025, the pair maintained a balance between their high-profile careers and their relationship, occasionally sharing posts and appearing together in public, while continuing to focus on their respective professional projects.

Their engagement, which was announced on August 26, happened two weeks prior in a garden at his home in Lee Summit, Missouri.

Kelce’s father told News 5 after the engagement, “Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed Kelce said.

“He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
