Police are on the hunt for 28-year-old Victorian man following a shooting, assault, aggravated burglary and cross-border pursuit near Mildura.
Jayden Day was seen driving an allegedly stolen dark-coloured Bentley in Mildura about 7:20am with a female passenger, resulting in a pursuit over the New South Wales border.
Victoria Police said the luxury vehicle was dumped near Alfred Elms Road in Trentham Cliffs, around 20 kilometres from Mildura.
The pair allegedly swam across the Murray River back into Victoria, where police lost sight of them.
Police said the duo would likely be on the lookout for another vehicle and may be only partially clothed.
Superintendent Tom Nairn said they were last seen swimming in the direction of Kings Billabong in Victoria.
“They’re believed to still be in the greater Mildura area, and that could involve Buronga and Gol Gol, Trentham as well, but at this stage we believe they’re on the Victorian side of the border,” Superintendent Nairn said.
“They’ve obviously stripped off to swim the river, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ll be trying to find some clothes.
“How and where they get those is anyone’s guess, but they wouldn’t want to be wandering around in their underwear for much longer than they have to.”
Police said Mr Day was last seen wearing only shorts or underwear, and said the woman was wearing a dark-coloured G-string with a jacket.

Superintendent Nairn said Mr Day had a prior history of actively avoiding police capture.
“He’s not prepared to stop for police and he will do whatever he can to avoid being apprehended,”
he said.
“That’s why we’re asking people not to approach, but just if they see someone or something they think is suspicious to ring Triple Zero and we will be there.”
Police said it was not known whether Mr Day was armed.
Police allege Mr Day may be involved in a series of recent armed crimes in the Mildura area.
It is alleged that one was an aggravated burglary and shooting at a Hawthorn Grove home in Mildura on Thursday, May 28.
A firearm was discharged towards a 25-year-old Mildura man inside the property, grazing the top of his head.
Police said the offender left in a white dual-cab ute, and it was believed the parties were known to each other.
Detectives also allege that Mr Day, and a male associate, were involved in an assault at a Red Cliffs backpackers in Indi Avenue on Tuesday.
In that incident, a 61-year-old man inside the backpackers was hit on the head with a crowbar.
Police allege the pair arrived and fled the scene in a stolen dark-coloured Bentley coupe.
A 28-year-old man was arrested during a search warrant on Tuesday night in Keam Street, Mildura.
He remains under police guard in hospital.

‘Do the right thing’
Special Operations Group members have been in the Mildura region for several days to assist in the search for Mr Day across several properties.
“If people notice any suspicious activity, including someone approaching their property or vehicle, then we want you to contact police immediately,” Superintendent Nairn said.
“He has been seen in the Mildura area several times over the past week, however, we can’t rule out the possibility that he may travel to NSW or South Australia.
“I also urge Mr Day to do the right thing and come forward and speak with police before the situation escalates further.”
Superintendent Nairn said Victoria Police was working with NSW police in the search.
“I want to reassure residents we have significant resources dedicated to this investigation and have a number of Victoria Police and NSW Police units working to locate Mr Day without incident as soon as possible.”
