The show first aired on television 13 years ago.

A Channel 4 show, which was cancelled after two series, is being hailed as a “masterpiece” by viewers who are now discovering it on  free streaming site Tubi.  Conspiracy thriller series Utopia was originally broadcast for two seasons and a total of 12 episodes  in 2013 and 2014, but in October 2014, the series’ official Twitter  feed confirmed there would not be a third series. Written by Dennis Kelly, it starred Fiona O’Shaughnessy, Adeel Akhtar, Paul Higgins, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Alexandra Roach, Oliver Woollford, Alistair Petrie, Geraldine James and Neil Maskell.

It has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating and follows a community of comic book fans who believe a graphic novel called The Utopia Experiments has predicted several disastrous epidemics, such as mad cow disease (BSE). When one fan manages to get his hands on the manuscript of the unpublished sequel, he invites four of his fellow enthusiasts from an online forum to meet in real life before he gets killed.

However, they find themselves in over their heads after taking possession of the tome, as a secret organisation only known as “The Network” is after it, and they will kill anyone in their way as they hunt for the manuscript and someone named Jessica Hyde.

Viewers have become hooked on it, and it has a slew of 10/10 ratings on review sites where they have gushed about how wonderful they think it is.

Writing on IMDB, one user raved: “Let me just say this right from the start; Utopia is a masterpiece! Not only is this one of the most intense and twisted shows I’ve ever seen…This is not your typical TV show. In fact, it’s a whole lot more than just a TV show. It’s an artwork that is being unfolded in front of your very eyes.

A second added: “Thrilling. Suspenseful. Unsettling. Tense. Probably the best show ever made…It’s been over a year since I watched Utopia, but there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about it. It hurts me knowing that people have not experienced this masterpiece.”

A third chimed in: “Utopia (UK) is a masterpiece. It’s one of the best TV shows I have ever seen, and it definitely deserves to be more well-known than it is…The concept and ideas are just so strong that you can’t not be affected by the story. It’s a perfect thriller because you never know what is going to happen next and are dying to find out. It’s criminal that this show got cancelled when it was just hitting its stride. This is already one of the greatest TV shows ever made and easily could have become the best TV show ever made.”

The ending also leaves hope for another season, which this show truly deserves.”
