No one saw Rachel and Steven becoming the couple at the heart of an X-rated scandal on Married At First Sight Australia — but MAFS has a habit of delivering the unexpected.

Explosive unseen footage aired during the fourth episode of MAFS: After The Dinner Party (now streaming on Stan) has thrust Steven firmly into the spotlight, revealing his role in the drama that led to Bec’s now-infamous crude toast.

The never-before-seen clip, captured just moments before Bec’s shocking joke, shows Steven casually joking with her about the most explicit details of his intimate life with Rachel. The conversation was light, private… or so Steven thought.

Watching the footage back for the first time, Steven was visibly shaken.

“Watching that back, I feel mortified. I’m even shaking just seeing that back,” he admitted, clearly rattled by the replay.

 

Rachel, sitting beside him, finally understood why Bec had felt comfortable enough to make the joke in front of the entire group.

“I thought I was supported and I thought my partner had my back,” Rachel said, her voice heavy with disappointment. “You essentially gave a green light to it.”

Host Brittany Hockley didn’t hold back, pointing out that it now appeared Steven had let Bec take the full blame for something he had also been part of.

Steven pushed back, insisting he never gave Bec permission to repeat anything in front of the whole group.
