A FORMER SWAT chief has blasted the sheriff leading the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance for bungling the weeks-long search.
Ex-Lieutenant Bob Krygier opened up about his former boss Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos as he claimed 98% of their office gave him a vote of no confidence.

Speaking on the Surviving the Survivor podcast, Krygier, who worked at the Pima County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 30 years, slammed his former boss for mishandling the case.
He pointed to Nanos’ bizarre public comments, saying, “He is not the best one to deliver those messages most times.
“He gets wrapped up in his thoughts, he gets emotional. Even if he’s not getting pushback he sometimes just repeats himself over and over.”
Krygier stressed the importance of strong leadership in the police force, and insisted that deputies will bend over backwards for someone they respect.
However, he claimed nearly everyone in the department decided that Nanos wasn’t up to the job.
“We did a morale poll a couple years ago – 98% of the department gave a vote of no confidence to the sheriff for various reasons,” Krygier said.
“Think about that number. […] This isn’t Mayberry. We need to do better.”
The ex-SWAT chief went on to claim that Nanos ignored the glaring poll instead of asking how he could improve for the department.
“It just makes things more difficult than it has to be,” Krygier said.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department for comment on Krygier’s claims.
It’s been over a month since Nancy, who is the 84-year-old mom of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, was seen walking into her Tucson, Arizona home.
Throughout weeks of non-updates, Nanos has insisted they’re honing in on the masked suspect who was spotted busting Nancy’s doorbell camera the night she was kidnapped.
On Tuesday, Nanos told NBC News, “I think the investigators are definitely closer.
“We got a lot of intel, a lot of leads, but now it’s time to just go to work.”
Meanwhile, Savannah has begged for answers in tears social media posts, and recently visited a makeshift vigil set up outside her mom’s home.
In a post shared on Monday, she wrote, “We feel the love and prayers from our neighbors, from the Tucson community and from around the country.
“Please don’t stop praying and hoping with us.
“Bring her home.”
