The teenager was left with dozens of cactus spines in his body.
Alleged Queensland criminal lands on cactus while fleeing police
An alleged car thief has landed himself in a prickly situation after falling onto a cactus while fleeing police.
Queensland Police said two teenagers allegedly committed multiple offences in at least nine different addresses across four suburbs in Brisbane‘s south between March 28 and March 30.
On April 2, police spotted the boys on Awoonga St in Marsden after they were tracked by PolAir.
Police alleged one of the teens, a 17-year-old Crestmead boy, attempted to flee but while jumping over a nearby fence into a backyard, landed on a cactus.
He suffered only minor injuries from the plant’s spines, with police seen in bodycam vision pulling “at least 30” barbs from his legs.
The teen also allegedly dropped a bag with 10 car keys and a small quantity of cannabis during his ill-fated fall.

He was arrested and charged with multiple offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear before Brisbane Childrens Court on May 11.

A second teenage boy also attempted to flee by running into a nearby home, but was tackled and stopped by the home owner before being arrested by police.
The 16-year-old Crestmead boy has since been charged with multiple offences including enter dwelling and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear before Brisbane Childrens Court on April 20.
Anyone with information or vision is asked to contact police.
