A 54-year-old father has been charged with the murder of his adult son after allegedly fatally stabbing him.

Officers were called to a home on McCrae Ct in Maudsland on the Gold Coast about 6.40 pm on Monday, following reports a man had been stabbed multiple times.

Multiple paramedics attended the private address in the quiet cul-de-sac, Queensland Ambulance Service said.

They tried to revive him, but his injuries were too severe to save him.

The 34-year-old son was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“It’s a very sad situation that occurred between him and his son,” Gold Coast Detective Inspector Mark Mooney said.

“He was very quiet and didn’t try to hide from us.

“He was in the lounge room when we arrived. No one else was present at the time.”

Detectives were seen carrying out inquiries in the neighbourhood.

“We understand that the son had only moved in back with his father weeks prior,” Mooney said.

“There is no reported domestic violence incidents between the two parties involved or anyone else living at this address.

“We have spoken to a lot of family members, they have provided us a lot of different versions of events and what’s been happening in that family environment.”

Police said they located multiple knives in the house and “are still conducting inquiries in relation to that”.

The accused has been charged with one count of murder as a domestic violence offence.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

“It’s very, very sad. Our thoughts go out to the family, and the Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group will be wrapping their support around them, providing all the help they need to get through this difficult period,” Mooney said.
