On Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid interrupted the ITV show to report on a devastating fire.
During Wednesday’s conclusion of Good Morning Britain, presenter Susanna Reid paused proceedings to share urgent breaking news with ITV audiences.
Whilst the programme was examining the forthcoming Autumn budget alongside Kevin Maguire and Andrew Pierce, Susanna broke into their discussion.
She said: “We’ve got some news coming out of Hong Kong, which is a fire engulfing a residential building. Wow, goodness me. These are live pictures. Bring back awful memories, don’t they?”
“A residential building in Hong Kong’s northern Tai Po district. Plumes of thick grey smoke billing out. Emergency services are battling to subdue the blaze and several people are trapped inside.”

ITV audiences were presented with real-time footage of the blaze, broadcast by public service channel RTHK. Susanna noted that the station, quoting police sources, reported one man had sustained severe burns, reports Wales Online.
She added: “High-rise buildings and fires, my goodness me. I mean, that just brings back awful memories, doesn’t it? When we were reporting live from this programme on the Grenfell tragedy.”
Referencing the devastating incident that occurred in London during 2017, Andrew informed presenters that demolition work is underway and will span two years.

Kevin added: “Grenfell or the World Trade Centre, after the plane crash, people were trapped above, and then they collapsed.
“You’ve got to hope that there are lots of exits and the outside windows have been fitted properly, so unlike Grenfell, the fire can’t go outside and then get in.”
As reported by South China Morning Post, the blaze has resulted in two individuals suffering severe burns, a firefighter being injured, and several residents trapped.
