Love Island’s George slams fan backlash over villa exit – day after he’s spotted snogging mystery girl

LOVE Island star George Knight has slammed the fan backlash over his villa exit – a day after he was spotted snogging a mystery girl.

The Sun broke the news that the hunk, 28, had left the villa for “private reasons” involving his family – then days later he was seen getting close to a blonde woman outside a chicken shop.

Fans then questioned why George was out kissing a girl, when he “should be at home”, after he said he left the villa because “family comes first”.

But addressing this backlash on Capital FM, the blonde hunk said: “The motto in the Knight household is life continues.

“We crack on. We’ve obviously got to address the elephant in the room, which we’re doing, but around that, life does continue.”

Going on, George said: “I still pursue and do things that I want to do, that I’m interested in, which naturally you might see, because they’re not things that I like to do in my room on my own.

“And I’m doing that around the roles and responsibilities that I have as a family member.

“So I’m not just gonna lock myself away and hide behind my phone and do nothing.”

The star then defiantly said: “I’m still gonna go out. I’m still gonna do loads of shopping, see my friends, go to events, watch the football.

“Yeah, nothing changes. It’s just, I need to be contactable for a certain few people.

“And at the moment I am, so I’m balancing it all. And anyone that’s got an issue with that can do one.”

It all kicked off yesterday, when a video emerged on social media of George cosying up to a blonde.

He then appeared to lean in for a kiss as they stood outside a chicken shop in Battersea.

But some Love Island fans were confused as to why he wasn’t at home with his family, after quitting the villa to be there for them.

One wrote: “Anywhere but with his family?”

A second posted: “Family first, always.”

This person said: “I think he left to be with her,” while another added: ” Everywhere but his family. Why am I not surprised.”

Last week George broke his silence to share his reason for leaving the show and opened up on intense trolling on the outside.

He told The Sun: “I’m good, as good as I can be. I think as the days have gone on, it’s, yeah, it’s a bit of a whirlwind, to be honest.

“The last few days have been overwhelming. It’s nuts.”

George said he was called to the villa’s beach hut video booth, where producers speak with the cast.

He said: “I was expecting just to receive a usual question, like ask how I’m doing or what’s the plan for the day.

“And they just said that one of the producers on site was going to meet me at the front door and that they had some information for you and the execs wanted to see you.

“And I was thinking, oh God, what could this be about? Once the execs put you in, you don’t see them again, really.

“They said that my parents had been in touch and that they had some news for me and that they were going to give me a call.

“It is all very private. But it was a health concern with a member of the immediate family.

“They said they felt like they weren’t doing their role as a parent if they didn’t let me know.

“And with what was said, I just felt like it was the right thing to come home.”
