The Traitors juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down — and now an edgy comedy favourite is being lined up for the celebrity edition as the show smashes yet another ratings milestone. Saucy stand-up Joanne McNally is the latest name being teed up for The Celebrity Traitors, following confirmation that the first episode of the most recent series pulled in a record-breaking 13.3 million views.
The BBC One hit continues to dominate, with almost a quarter of viewers aged between 16 and 34 — a key demographic that insiders say makes Joanne, 42, a perfect fit for the next celebrity run. A TV insider told The Sun: “Joanne has a popular podcast and a substantial social media following which will appeal to the younger viewers who, at one time, wouldn’t be ¬religiously watching a mainstream show on the BBC. But people like Joanne are the bridge between old and new media.

“Plus, she’s hilarious, with a sense of humour based on the fact she’s a single woman ¬navigating the dating world — something which also appeals to a younger market.”
The Irish comic, from Co Roscommon, has built a loyal following since launching the My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast in 2021 with I’m A Celebrity star Vogue Williams, 40. The show has become a staple for younger audiences, helping cement Joanne’s crossover appeal.
She has also become a regular on British TV, appearing on QI, Big Fat Quiz Of The Year and Taskmaster. She is currently touring her stand-up show Pinotphile until the end of June — but notably has no dates in May, when The Celebrity Traitors films at Ardross Castle in Scotland.
The casting buzz comes as the format continues to surge in popularity. The debut episode of the last public series was the second biggest launch show on TV in four years, beaten only by the first episode of The Celebrity Traitors last year.
Of the 13.3 million views, 57 per cent came via BBC iPlayer. The launch also ranked third among 16- to 34-year-olds, behind The Celebrity Traitors and the Netflix drama Adolescence.
Joanne is not the only big name rumoured to be joining the BBC reality show. Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, Gavin & Stacey’s Ruth Jones, comedian Daisy May Cooper and League of Gentlemen star Steve Pemberton are also said to be in the frame.
Meanwhile, Danny Dyer has reportedly changed his mind about taking part after previously turning down the show. The 48-year-old former EastEnders actor even appeared in a Comic Relief parody of the format in 2023, but bosses were unable to secure him for series one.
The source added: “Danny was always top of The Celebrity Traitors’ wish list but had zero interest until seeing the fun and games last autumn. As soon as his tune changed, it was all systems go.”
A BBC spokesman said: “We’re not commenting on speculation, but details about series two of The Celebrity Traitors will be announced in due course.”
