The Robertson family is mourning the loss of their beloved patriarch, Phil Robertson, who passed away on May 25 at the age of 79. Known to many as the founder of Duck Commander and the face of the hit reality show Duck Dynasty, Phil was far more than just a TV personality—he was the heart of a tight-knit family built on faith, love, and legacy.

 

A Life Rooted in Faith and Family
While Duck Dynasty gave fans a glimpse into the family’s duck call business and larger-than-life personalities, it was their deep bond and strong Christian faith that truly resonated. Even after the show ended in 2017, Phil continued sharing his beliefs and values through his Unashamed podcast and other platforms.

In late 2024, Phil stepped away from the podcast following his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease and a blood condition. His sons, Al and Jase, shared updates with fans, and just days before his passing, they gently expressed that Phil was preparing “for the journey to the other side.”

 

On May 25, surrounded by love, Phil peacefully made that journey home.

In a touching statement, the Robertson family wrote:

“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. Sadie Robertson Huff, Phil’s granddaughter, shared sweet photos and memories of her “Papaw,” writing:

“It was his testimony that changed his life, our family’s life, and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. Fully alive in Christ. One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’”

 

Sadie’s husband, Christian Huff, remembered duck hunting with Phil and thanked him for the fun memories and the legacy he left behind.

Bella Robertson reflected on Phil’s unwavering faith:

“My papaw Phil is now where he always longed to be — with God, his Father. I miss him already & cannot wait to see him again one day.”

Mia Robertson shared an emotional message, calling Phil her mentor, ally, and spiritual rock:

“His love wasn’t always in words or hugs—it was in his actions, his prayers, and how he helped hold our family together.”

Will Jr. remembered Phil’s powerful testimony and deep love for the Lord, while Missy Robertson, Phil’s daughter-in-law, called him an “amazing man” with an “amazing legacy.”

 

Jase Robertson posted a photo of the family around the dinner table—one of their cherished traditions—and simply said:

“My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands… We will see him again!”
