We’ve reached the pointy end of Married At First Sight (MAFS) with 2026’s final Commitment Ceremony, and it looks like Scott McCristal has finally gathered his *true* thoughts and feelings about his marriage with Gia Fleur.
This article contains Married At First Sight (MAFS) spoilers. You can choose to stay or leave.
Yep, that’s right, after a gruelling couple of weeks jam-packed with screenshot dramas, fingerbanging jokes and scathing unseen footage where folks were making fun of people’s living situations, MAFS 2026 has reached its final Commitment Ceremony.
And finally, after two months of marriage, according to the show, the cracks are finally showing in Gia and Scott’s relationship, with Scott admitting that he can’t voice and express his opinions and feelings without triggering Gia.
In an emotional Ouch Couch sesh, Scott finally admitted that he struggles to open up to Gia about how he really feels about their relationship, stating that Gia “spirals” when he tries to be real.

As Scotty struggled to speak honestly on the Ouch Couch, sexologist and MAFS expert Alessandra Rampolla warned him that if he “can’t speak honestly” at this time in the experiment, there are doubts whether their relationship would work IRL. Alessandra also pointed out how scared and “fearful” Scott was of Gia.
Amongst other things, Scott revealed that he has felt pressure to say “I love you” back to Gia — who admitted later on that she dropped the L-bomb first — and that she’s been questioning his ability to provide and ability to reassure her, and has called him “every name under the sun”.
And according to him, this happens at least once a week.
“I feel worthless,” Scotty admitted when Alessandra asked how those moments made him feel.

Later on, Gia admitted that she hurt him because she felt like he hurt her by not reciprocating that emotional connection with the L-bomb. She also claimed that she shuts down her emotions during heated moments, fearing that she would scare Scott away for being “argumentative”.
After finally coming clean about their relationship — demolishing their “power couple” image — Daddy John Aiken thanked them for being real for once, even though it’s the final Commitment Ceremony.
Ultimately, when it was time for the decision, the pair decided to “stay” and take on the expert’s feedback… even though it’s the final week.

While the pair were all smiles during the decision time, Gia was visibly upset walking back to the group, which prompted Scott to ask if she was OK. After she brushed him off, stating everything was all good, Scott whispered, “I appreciate you”.
Married At First Sight fans react to Scott McCristal and Gia Fleur’s emotional Commitment Ceremony moment.
Most fans were angry with Gia, claiming that she was doing damage control and dodging accountability on the Ouch Couh, using the story about the L-Bomb as a vessel to avoid getting dragged by the Experts. Some even claimed she was “gaslighting” Scott throughout the whole discussion.
Others also expressed their sorrow for Scott, who was visibly emotional and scared at the start of the Commitment Ceremony session.
Others also noticed Gia’s body language returning to the couch, with many speculating that she popped off at Scott when they returned to the apartment.
Yikes. Honestly, if they really did like each other, they could’ve resolved this earlier on the experiment instead of keeping up this fake AF image of being a golden couple.
Definitely a difficult watch.
