Siobhan Finneran stars in Unchosen, Netflix’s upcoming six-part psychological thriller set inside a fictional Christian sect

etflix has unveiled a first look at its upcoming psychological thriller, Unchosen – and it looks unmissable.

The star-studded, six-part series takes audiences behind the closed doors of a fictional Christian sect. It follows Rosie, a devoted wife and mother, who begins to question her position in the cult after a fateful encounter with escaped convict Sam.

Unchosen is definitely going on my watchlist. Not only does the series star BAFTA-nominated stars Siobhan Finneran and Christopher Eccleston, but it’s created by Julie Gearey, whose TV credits include hit dramas such as Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Prisoner Wives. Plus, the series is produced by Double Dutch Productions, which boasts an impressive TV slate that includes epic dramas such as House of Guinness and Peaky Blinders.

What is Unchosen about?

The story centres around Rosie, who lives with her family in a cloistered Christian sect. But after she meets an escaped prisoner, Rosie is propelled into a “dangerous journey of female emancipation and sexual awakening”.

The synopsis reads: “Rosie lives with her husband Adam and daughter in a cloistered Christian sect. The fateful arrival of escaped prisoner Sam into her life, reveals the reality and restraints of her world; perhaps this hidden religious community doesn’t have her best interests at heart.

“And, as the cracks begin to appear in her marriage, Sam presents as her saviour. But with his dark criminal past, where does the greatest danger lie – with the cult or with Sam?”

Who stars in Unchosen?

Molly Windsor (Three Girls) leads the cast as Rosie. She stars alongside Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) as Adam, Fra Fee (Prime Target) as Sam, Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley) as Mrs. Phillips and Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) as Mr. Phillips.

When will Unchosen be released?

Netflix has yet to reveal a release date for Unchosen. However, now that the first look images have dropped, we can speculate that viewers won’t be waiting long for the show to arrive.
