Christian Horner has been making calls to “pretty much every team owner” in Formula 1 as he plots his comeback to the sport, according to Aston Martin’s chief executive Andy Cowell.
The former Red Bull boss, who left the team in July after two decades at the helm, has been actively reaching out to multiple teams across the paddock.
It turns out Horner’s been quite busy on the phone lately. His approaches have sparked conversations with various teams, though several have already made their positions clear about any potential involvement.
Aston Martin’s Cowell confirmed Horner was looking for a return to the sport, but was firm about their stance.
“It looks as though Christian is ringing up pretty much every team owner at the moment,” said Cowell.
“I can clearly say there are no plans for the involvement of Christian in an operational or investment role in the future.”
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu confirmed that whilst Horner had indeed approached them and they’d had an exploratory chat, that was the end of it.

Alpine’s Steve Nielsen acknowledged that while Horner and their executive adviser, Flavio Briatore, are old friends, there are currently no plans for Horner to join the French outfit.
Williams team principal James Vowles said Horner hadn’t approached them directly, though he wouldn’t completely close the door on future conversations.
“We’re very happy with the structure we have and it’s working,” Vowles explained, seeing no reason to make changes.

Meanwhile, Cadillac’s CEO Dan Towriss ruled out any connection back in August, stating there had been no talks and no plans for any.
His friendship with Flavio Briatore at Alpine has sparked speculation, though nothing concrete has materialised.

The 51-year-old’s efforts to find a new role come after he finalised his departure from Red Bull with a substantial financial settlement, rumoured to be between £75million and £80million.
His departure came after the British Grand Prix in July, ending a hugely successful 20-year stint that saw him oversee 14 world championships (eight Drivers’ and six Constructors’ Championships).
The final 18 months of his time at Red Bull were marred by allegations of “inappropriate behaviour” from a female colleague – claims he’s always denied and was twice cleared of.
His gardening leave means he won’t be able to return to F1 until spring 2026.
