Perth pediatrician Chia Liang Saw, 41, charged with 72 child sexual abuse offences

Perth pediatrician Chia Liang Saw, 41, charged with 72 child sexual abuse offences

A pediatrician is facing 72 child sexual abuse charges involving young patients after seven more alleged victims were identified.

Bail was refused for Dr Saw in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

He is due to appear again on October 30 for a committal mention and is yet to enter pleas.

Dr Saw now faces 72 offences in total relating to 18 victims who were allegedly sexually assaulted by the pediatrician in his consulting rooms.

Police allege the offending took place across several Perth suburbs between November 2022 and May this year when the doctor was first arrested.

Dr Saw most recently worked at St John of God as a consultant pediatrician at hospitals across Perth and also worked as a clinical lecturer at Curtin University, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency suspended Dr Saw’s registration following the allegations.
