One of Tom Cruise’s top films, which fans claim is “underrated” but “holds up” more than 30 years after its initial release, is now ready to stream on Netflix.
The streaming giant added the iconic 1990 film to its library on Friday 6th March, making it an ideal choice for viewers seeking a bit of thrill after a long working day.
Days of Thunder stars the Mission: Impossible actor as a young racing driver named Cole Trickle who finally gets his opportunity to showcase his skills when he’s selected to race for NASCAR, mentored by legendary pit crew chief Harry Hogge (portrayed by Robert Duvall).
After a high-speed clash with rival driver Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker), Cole suffers serious injuries, but a fortuitous meeting with stunning neurosurgeon Dr. Claire Lewicki (Nicole Kidman) provides him the strength required to recover and conquer his fears.

One fan on Letterboxd praised in a five-star review: “Any movie that has me standing up, cheering and clapping in my living room during the finale is a fantastic one in my books. This one did exactly that.
“The cast is excellent. I would gladly watch ten more sports films with this exact group. It is the perfect kind of movie to throw on during a laid back Saturday afternoon.”
Taking aim at the film’s poor reviews, they added: “I do not care what anyone says. That 3.1 average rating is blasphemous. It may follow the same formula as a lot of 80s sports films, but that is exactly why it works.”
Someone else enthused: “A high octane adrenaline rush. Pure goddamn entertainment. This s*** will always absolutely shred.”

“This is definitely one of the most underrated movies of all time,” an IMDb user declared.
“The producers definitely know how to make each scene memorable with the perfect scenery, music and acting. It’s fast paced and has a beautiful story line. The music is absolutely stunning.”
Another fan offered Days of Thunder a glowing recommendation: “Visually the film is stunning as you would expect from a Tony Scott Film and the action scenes breathtakingly shot.
“Days of Thunder is an often overlooked film in Tom Cruise filmography but it is a classic, if you haven’t seen it for years give it another go.

“My take on this is over 30 years later and this movie still holds up,” a final fan said.
“Why this movie has a score of just 6.0 is an understatement to me and downright diabolical and underrated.”
Action movie enthusiasts should certainly find time for this nostalgic cinematic thrill-ride now it’s readily available to stream from the comfort of your sofa.
