is on the rise.
At the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, it is proving exactly that with versatility extending across several disciplines.
So far, Austria has clinched titles in Alpine skiing, snowboarding, and a silver in luge.
Benjamin Karl’s successful defence of his men’s parallel giant slalom on Sunday (8 February) is among the highlights, dubbing it the “crown of his career.”
“When I was a 10-year-old kid, I wanted to be the fast snowboarder. I wanted to be an Olympic and World champion, and I have reached those goals now,” he told Olympics.com.
“World champion five times and the Olympic champion a second time, and I don’t know what I feel, it’s just amazing. I’m really happy. It’s the crown of my career.”
Austria will look to add more Olympic hardware to its tally in the individual biathlon events, aiming to challenge Norway’s dominant cohort of hopefuls.
