Tatiana Schlossberg’s family has convened at New York City’s Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola to honor the late journalist and mother-of-two, who passed away last week after a short battle with cancer. Attendees also included Schlossberg’s brother Jack, her sister Rose, her husband George Moran, and her two young children. Among the celebrity guests were David Letterman and Carolina Herrera, the latter of whom designed Schlossberg’s 2017 wedding dress.

Schlossberg died at the age of 35 on Tuesday, December 30 from acute myeloid leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer. The news of her passing came just one month after she revealed her diagnosis in a heartbreaking essay published in The New Yorker.

“I did not—could not—believe that they were talking about me,” she wrote. “I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew.”

A friend of the Kennedy family later told People that Schlossberg’s mother Caroline is now relying on her late mother Jackie Kennedy’s “playbook” to help keep her daughter’s “memory alive.”

In the serene and historic Church of St. Ignatius Loyola on Manhattan’s Upper East Side — the same sacred space where Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ funeral was held in 1994 — the Kennedy family assembled on January 5 to bid a loving farewell to Tatiana Schlossberg, the insightful author and environmental advocate who passed away at age 35 on December 30, 2025, after a valiant battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

The intimate service brought together Tatiana’s immediate family: mother Caroline Kennedy, father Edwin Schlossberg, siblings Rose and Jack, husband Dr. George Moran, and their two young children, Edwin and Josephine. Extended relatives, including Maria Shriver, joined in quiet embraces, creating a circle of solace amid profound grief.

Guests such as fashion icon Carolina Herrera and The New Yorker editor David Remnick paid tribute to Tatiana’s profound impact as a journalist and author. Her 2019 book Inconspicuous Consumption highlighted everyday environmental choices, while her posthumously celebrated essay “A Battle With My Blood” offered raw insight into her leukemia diagnosis — discovered mere hours after giving birth to Josephine in May 2024.

“I did not—could not—believe that they were talking about me,” Tatiana wrote, describing her shock upon learning of the aggressive cancer while still in the maternity ward. She detailed swimming miles while pregnant, enduring chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants (including a donation from sister Rose), and clinical trials — all while cherishing motherhood and advocacy.

The JFK Library Foundation’s tribute captured her spirit: “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” accompanied by a cherished September family photo radiating her vibrant joy.

Tatiana’s life embodied intellect, maternal devotion, and unyielding optimism. She turned personal trial into inspiration, urging action on health and climate. Her words remind us to embrace fragility, safeguard our world, and weave tighter bonds of love.

As the family finds grace in gratitude, Tatiana’s light — gentle yet fierce — lifts them, and us, through every tomorrow.
