Pete Wicks, known for his impressive performances on Strictly and formerly The Only Way Is Essex, shared the revelation while opening up about his love of dogs

Pete Wicks has revealed that his ultimate “goal in life” is to “disappear into nothingness”, but he won’t be on his own if this becomes a reality. His revelation came in a recent interview to coincide with the second series of his U&W show, Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake, which sees him working with hard-working staff from the national dog welfare charity Dogs Trust.

Of course, Pete, best known for his role on The Only Way Is Essex, met a number of loveable pooches over the course of the show. Indeed, he even noted that “every single one” captured his heart.

During the chat, he was asked how he stops himself from taking the pooches home with him. It would lead to the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant revealing what he described as his “goal.”

Pete told TV Times: “It’s the hardest thing, and my goal in life is to buy land and just disappear into nothingness surrounded by dogs. I prefer dogs to people!”

He continued: “But I already have my two rescues (French bulldogs Eric and Peggy) who’ve both had traumatic experiences and are getting on, so it wouldn’t be right to bring in another dog, as much as I want to.”

He added: “A couple of our film crew are adopting dogs again in this series, though.”

Shot at the charity’s rehoming centre in Basildon, the show is due to return for two further series and a Christmas special after the initial run, which aired earlier this year, proved successful.

Speaking in May, Pete shared an update with fans about the show, saying he was in the “thick of it filming”, adding that he “couldn’t be happier” and that it had been “full of tears and laughter”.

In a more recent update in October, Pete declared “We are BACK!” as he gave fans a “one week warning” that the show would return to their screens on Monday, October 13.

He added: “On a personal note, I am so proud and so excited for you all to see what I have been doing for the past 6 months working with @dogstrust and all the amazing staff there, this show is more than work, it’s my passion so your support would mean everything! So go follow @petewicksfordogssake and tell me what you think!”

Meanwhile, Pete’s former Strictly dance partner, Jowita Przystal, also offered her support for his project (she’s also reportedly been completing work for the charity), encouraging fans to follow him and saying she “can’t wait” for the new series.

It comes after Pete recently opened up about his on-stage kiss with Jowita at London’s O2 Arena during a live version of his and close pal Sam Thompson’s Staying Relevant podcast.

Responding to one fan’s description of the kiss as “aggressive”, Sam said: “It wasn’t an aggressive kiss, though. I feel like it was quite like a… choreo…by the way, it was choreography, that kiss. I think we should put that out there right now.”
