Rapper Lil OT has been killed in a targeted shooting.

The 24-year-old (real name Omer Niaz Muhammad) was murdered at a shopping mall in Burlington, Ontario.

According to Barrie Today, the incident took place on February 9th in the parking lot of Kelsey’s at Burlington Centre.

The shooting occurred at around 10:10pm. OT was taken to the hospital shortly after suffering gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.

Police officers are searching for two suspects who reportedly fled the scene in a white SUV. Constable Jeff Dillon claimed that the shooting was targeted during a press conference on February 10th.

“We do believe this was a targeted incident and we do not believe there is any known risk to public safety,” he said. “Unfortunately, one young man lost his life. When you are in a wide open parking lot like this, and a gun is fired, it was lucky that nobody else was struck. It shows a rampant disregard for anyone else who may have been here.”

According to reports, OT previously survived a drive-by shooting in 2023 at his family home in Hamilton, which is also in Ontario, Canada.

The rapper’s biggest song, ‘Letter 2 My Dawg’, has over a million Spotify streams, with other tracks like ‘Violence’ and ‘Trouble Child’ having 900,000 and 720,000 streams, respectively.

He released his final project, Written in Stone, in October 2025. His only other album, JamesVille, came out in 2023.

Fans took to the comments of his YouTube videos to pay tribute. One person wrote, “RIP bro my condolences to da family dis city fucked.” Another person said, “These street got no good ending LONG LIVE OT prayers up.”
