Hollywood star Paul Walker’s brother Cody has opened up about the “odd” experience of stepping into his brother’s iconic role after the beloved actor’s death.
Walker passed away more than 12 years ago when the Porsche Carrera GT he was a passenger in crashed into a pole and trees in the US.
The Carrera was said to be speeding between 130km/h to 150km/h in a 70km/h zone in Valencia, California.
The fiery crash also killed the driver, Walker’s friend Roger Rodas.
Walker, 40, had been midway through filming the seventh instalment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise.
His brothers Cody and Caleb stepped in as body doubles to complete the film, in what Cody described to The Morning Show as “one of the most odd situations you could probably be put in”.
“We were still mourning the loss of our brother,” Cody, who was 15 years younger than Paul, said.
“For four months, we travelled to the UAE, we filmed in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, a bunch in Atlanta, and we finished in LA.
“There were days when you’d get lost in it, you’d laugh, you’d smile, you’d have fun, and then you’d feel so guilty because the realisation set in — we’re only here doing this because Paul’s not here anymore.”
Cody credited the Fast & Furious cast for helping the brothers through the incredibly difficult period.
“This wasn’t just some film that Paul was working on, this was Fast — and it really is a family,” he said.
“It was a rollercoaster.”

Cody now runs Reach Out Worldwide, the charity Paul founded in January 2010 after the Haiti earthquakes.
The organisation was born from Paul’s frustration at the disaster response and his determination to help.
“He figured, ‘Hey, you know what? I have resources, I have people trained in this sort of work’,” Cody explained.
“If I can help fund this trip and get boots on the ground in there as quickly as possible, that’s what I want to do, and I want to go and do it myself.”
Paul flew to the Dominican Republic with urban search and rescue teams, firefighters and paramedics.
Fellow star Vin Diesel arranged a helicopter to get them into Haiti with supplies to helped children and staff displaced by collapsed orphanages.
“It really changed him, changed everyone on that trip,” Cody said.
Cody also launched Fuel Fest, a global car culture event that celebrates the brothers’ shared passion for vehicles.
“It’s all makes and all models of vehicles and cars. It’s a car show mixed with motor sports,” he said, adding he hopes to bring Fuel Fest to Australia soon.
The tour kicked off last month in Doha, Qatar, with Florida next on the schedule.
