Rhona Bennett, a 22-year member of En Vogue, has announced her departure from legendary R&B group.
The singer shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, Nov. 13, calling it “a new season.”

“There comes a time in every artist’s journey when the path changes — sometimes without full clarity, but always with purpose,” she wrote. “Over the years, I’ve done deep work to develop my voice — not just musically, but personally and spiritually. I’ve learned that honoring my values, creative expression, and truth must come before anything else.”
Bennett addressed speculation about her absence from En Vogue’s performance at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where the group appeared alongside Salt-N-Pepa. “I’m normally pretty private, but many of you reached out to ask why I wasn’t at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance,” she explained. “I was approved, during the summer, to facilitate my own event happening concurrently on November 8th, however I was not informed about the Hall of Fame performance and discovered it at the same time as the public.”

As questions spread, original members Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones confirmed Bennett is no longer part of the group in a statement posted to Instagram on Nov. 17.
“Out of due respect for our sisters @saltnpepaofficial and their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, we chose to refrain from addressing Rhona Bennett’s departure from En Vogue until now,” the statement began.
On Facebook, Bennett responded to a fan’s remarks, adding more context behind the mention of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance.
“The mention about the Hall of Fame performance was only to satisfy the questions coming to me about it,” Bennett said. “The reason for our parting is much more nuanced than that.
En Vogue was formed in Oakland, California in the late 1980s, and released their debut album Born to Sing on April 3, 1990. The original lineup consisted of Terry Ellis, Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones.
Jones and Robinson left the group years ago, with Jones returning earlier this year.
