A well-known wildlife presenter and cameraman who also won Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 is set to appear in Kendal next month as part of his new nationwide speaking tour.

Hamza Yassin, 35, is beloved for presenting television shows such as the BBC’s Animal Park and Countryfile.

The famous naturalist also claimed the famed Glitterball trophy in series 20 of the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, alongside his dancing partner Jowita Przystał.

Now, Yassin is coming to Kendal on Sunday, February 1, as part of his nationwide tour, ‘My life behind the lens’.

There will be two talks by the presenter, one at 2 pm and another at 6 pm – both taking place at Westmorland Hall, Kendal Leisure Centre.

Describing the event, organisers state: “Hamza shares behind the scenes tales from his epic filming expeditions across the globe.

“Packed with breathtaking footage, fascinating insights, charming personal stories, and with a deep passion for nature, he invites audiences of all ages to reconnect with the wild world around them.

“This unique live experience offers a rare glimpse into the life and work of one of Britain’s most beloved natural history storytellers.”

Alongside presenting programmes such as Animal Park and Countryfile, Yassin is also known for being Ranger Hamza on Cbeebies, as well as for presenting one-off documentaries such as ‘Scotland: My Life in the Wild’ for Channel 4.

Born in Sudan, he and his family moved to the United Kingdom from Sudan in 1998.

Yassin then went on to study zoology and conservation at Bangor University, followed by a master’s in Biological Photography and Imaging at the University of Nottingham.

Speaking ahead of his first national theatre tour, Yassin said: “My mission is to get people outside and experience the wonder of the natural world.

“Immersing yourself in nature is an effective antidote to the anxieties of modern life.”
