Toss a coin to your Witcher—Geralt of Rivia is back in action! Netflix has unveiled the first glimpse of Season 4 of The Witcher, the hit fantasy drama based on CD Projekt Red’s video game saga and Andrzej Sapkowski’s beloved novels. Fans can look forward to all eight episodes dropping on Netflix on October 30.

While the white-haired monster slayer was famously portrayed by Henry Cavill in the series’ first three seasons, he announced on Instagram in October 2022 that he would be stepping away from the role. Taking up the mantle is none other than Liam Hemsworth, ready to bring his own take on the legendary Witcher. Season 3, split into two parts and released in June and July 2023, marked Cavill’s final journey as Geralt.

Reflecting on his time in the role, Cavill shared, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”

The first teaser gives fans a thrilling glimpse of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, who bears a striking resemblance to Henry Cavill’s incarnation, as he battles a ghostly wraith. The official logline sets the stage: “After the Continent-altering events of Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves torn apart by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge and their goals sharpen, they encounter unexpected allies eager to join their quests. And if they can embrace these newfound families, they just might have a chance to reunite for good.”

As announced earlier, Season 4 will be the penultimate chapter of The Witcher, with the series concluding after Season 5. The final two seasons were filmed back-to-back and will adapt the remaining three novels: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
