Cassie was a ‘prisoner’ in P Diddy relationship, Kid Cudi claims in his new memoir

Cassie Ventura was a “prisoner” in her relationship with Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, Kid Cudi has claimed.

Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, has just released his memoir in which he’s opened up about his substance abuse struggles and reflected on his past relationships. He also opened up about his famous friends, celebrity feuds and his rocky relationship with Ventura.

udi and Ventura dated in 2011, during one of her splits from Combs. While they were together, Cudi was still in love with an ex-girlfriend and admitted in his memoir that as a result, a long-term romance with Venture “never felt possible.”

Despite this, the rapper has confessed he was “p—– at Cassie for going back to” Combs. Ventura ended up dating Combs on-and-off until 2018.

Cudi said he eventually realized why Ventura might have returned to Combs. “Over time, I realized she was a prisoner,” he wrote in his book, Cudi: The Memoir. “I just prayed one day she would be free.”

Cudi’s memoir has been released after he testified at Combs’ sex trafficking trial earlier this year. Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in his criminal trial. He was acquitted on the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy and has vehemently denied all allegations against him.

During the trial, Cudi testified that he believed Combs was involved in a break in at his house in 2011. Cudi also testified that his car was set on fire in 2012 after Combs had threatened to set fire to it. Neither of these claims were proven.

Cudi recalled he allegedly asked Combs, “What are we going to do about my car?” to which Diddy reportedly replied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” However, Cudi alleged that he and Diddy met again at the same place a few years later, with Combs telling him he wanted to “apologize for everything.” Cudi said he “found peace with what happened.”

Combs’ attorneys tried to have Cudi’s testimony removed from record, describing it as “mere speculation” in a letter sent to the judge at the time of the trial, which was seen by The Mirror US. The request was denied.

Combs’ attorneys have denied the rapper had any involvement in the incidents mentioned during Cudi’s testimony. Cudi has now spoken out about appearing in court, telling Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, “It was crazy, man.” He repeated, “In the moment, it was just crazy.”

The musician admitted he “had a hard time understanding if it was reality,” saying he questioned, “Am I in a movie? What the f— is going on?”

The Mirror US has approached attorneys for Combs and Ventura for comment.
