A professional dancer and choreographer from Dancing With The Stars has tragically been discovered dead in his residence at the age of 47.

Léo Blanco was found lifeless in his apartment in Curitiba on Friday, with the cause of death yet to be determined.

He featured on the Brazilian edition of Dancing With The Stars and was raised in Cascavel, in southern Brazil. He starred on Dança dos Famosos, Brazil’s equivalent to Strictly Come Dancing, which recently saw one former star detail their cancer diagnosis.

Posting on social media, actress Mariana Xavier – who partnered with Léo in 2017 – wrote: “He was my teacher on Dança dos Famosos in 2017, but more than that, he was the best partner I could have had in making that dream come true – a dream that was his as well.

“One of the kindest, most generous people I’ve met along my journey. Someone who stayed in my heart and in my life, even when we weren’t in touch all that often.”

Léo had been passionate about dance from childhood and had also pursued work as a fitness instructor. His passion for movement began during his university years, where he headed two dance troupes, reports the Mirror.

His breakthrough to stardom occurred when he joined Dança dos Famosos.

Besides Mariana, he also danced alongside vocalist Luisa Sonza, with the duo finishing ninth before elimination. In 2020, he partnered with Lucy Ramos throughout her victorious campaign.
