Jimmy Kimmel may have resolved his issues with ABC, allowing him to return to the small screen this week after the boycott, but he’s still tangled up in an ongoing legal battle.
The late-night TV host’s production company is facing a $3 million lawsuit that’s moving into its next phase after a writer claimed he was tased on the set of a prank show co-hosted by Johnny Knoxville and co-executive-produced by Jimmy. Daniel Curry alleges that Johnny tased him on the set of The Prank Panel, a show for which Jimmy served as executive producer, in September 2022, prior to the temporary suspension of his talk show due to remarks he made about Charlie Kirk’s death.
According to court documents, the incident resulted in Daniel suffering a broken fibula and a torn ankle ligament. The alleged event was captured on film years before Jimmy Kimmel’s now resolved suspension saga.

At the time of the alleged tasing, Daniel, a veteran writer and producer, was serving as a consulting producer on the short-lived ABC show. He claims the incident occurred on September 22, 2022.
In 2024, Daniel filed a negligence and battery lawsuit against Johnny, ABC Signature Studios, Jimmy’s Creative Lab, Kimmelot, ITV America, and others associated with the show. The Mirror has sought comments from Jimmy and Johnny.
Daniel’s lawsuit is currently proceeding to arbitration. He explains that arbitration is a private process where a neutral third party determines the outcome of the dispute outside of court.
Daniel is alleging that the incident has left him with permanent leg damage, prompting him to pursue $3 million in compensation. Speaking to The U.S. Sun, Daniel revealed he’s prepared to make public information he’s kept private for years.

He alleged that comedian Eric André, who was also present during filming, tried to brush off the incident as typical Jackass antics.
“I’m not a public person,” Daniel explained to the outlet. “I’m trying to just write and work and do good work. I’m an artist, not an attention seeker.”
Daniel claimed the situation escalated when Eric attempted to tase Johnny, who then seized the device from him. While working on set writing material for Eric, Daniel heard what sounded like a lightning strike. The sound was actually the electrical discharge from a police-grade taser.
“Johnny Knoxville entered the studio from outside with what I now know is a police taser,” he explained to the publication. “There was a mass of people trying to avoid him. […] He just came into the room angry with a taser.”
Despite Johnny allegedly assuring Daniel he was “safe,” Daniel claimed the stunt performer “charged” at him “with a taser.”
Daniel continued, “When I got hit with the taser, I tried to run away. It seized my body and I went completely rigid and I collapsed into my leg.”
The impact from the fall resulted in Daniel breaking his fibula and damaging two ankle tendons, requiring months of physical therapy and leaving him with lasting limitations, according to legal documents. “I function pretty well, I do my PT exercises, but I don’t have a hundred percent functionality,” he shared with the news outlet.
