In the post, he said he was “getting out and about a bit now, and slowly catching up on everything I missed over the last month”.
Modra underwent surgery last month after the truck he was driving hit a tree near Victor Harbor.
Adelaide Crows legend Tony Modra has posted a photo update, as he recovers from serious injuries sustained in a truck crash last month.
In a social media post, the two-time All-Australian AFL star said he was “getting out and about”, and praised the medical staff who “saved my life” and “put me back together with a few titanium plates”.
The 57-year-old also shared two post-crash photos — one showing him being embraced in a hospital bed during his fourth day in intensive care, and the other with his family which he captioned as being one month later.
Modra was injured in June when the truck he was driving hit a tree at Back Valley, near Victor Harbor on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula.
He later underwent facial surgery.
“I’m getting out and about a bit now, and slowly catching up on everything I missed over the last month,” Modra wrote on Instagram.
“I’m so humbled to learn how many people were cheering these incredible medical teams on … and our family too.
“I’ll never be able to thank everyone enough.”

Modra played football in SA’s Riverland region before debuting for the Crows in 1992.
He was leading goal-kicker at the Crows for five straight seasons and played State of Origin football, winning the league’s Coleman medal in 1997.
After 118 games for the Crows, Modra played 47 for Fremantle.
