Shots fired into a home are believed to have targeted previous occupants and may be linked to another shooting the previous night.
Emergency services were called to O’Neill Street in Guildford, in Sydney’s west, about 11.50pm on Wednesday following reports of gunfire.
Police allege two men in a dark grey Hyundai i30 fired multiple shots into the property, with several cartridge casings found at the scene.
Three bullets struck a window, but the occupants were not injured.
The people living at the home are not known to police, but previous occupants are, leading investigators to believe the attack was targeted, said NSW Police Superintendent Simon Glasser.

Detectives are examining whether the Guildford shooting is connected to another incident about 1.50am on Wednesday, when a shot was fired into a home on Neil Street in neighbouring Merrylands.
A silver Hyundai i30 was believed to have been used in that incident.
Meanwhile, Glasser said police have not yet established a link between the Guildford shooting and a separate incident that occurred just 50 minutes earlier and less than 1km away.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the right calf and left foot while walking along O’Connor Street in Guildford.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition about 11pm.
Police believe shots were fired from a dark-coloured hatchback, with the occupants remaining inside the car.
The victim is known to police for “low-level crime” and investigators believe he was specifically targeted.
He is set to undergo surgery on Thursday and is expected to be interviewed once medically cleared.
Three car fires were also reported on Wednesday night in Greenacre and Granville, but police have not yet linked them to the shootings.

The spate of violence has been described as “very concerning” by Glasser.
“This is incredibly reckless behaviour,” he said.
“The offenders have a complete disregard for the safety and lives of members of the public.”
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
