It’s safe to say the title “Nobody Wants This” doesn’t reflect reality—audiences clearly do want it. That’s been confirmed by Netflix’s decision to renew the comedy for a second season, along with some high-profile additions to the cast.
After the show premiered on Netflix in September 2024, fans will now have to wait a bit for Season 2 to hit their screens. The series has been a major success for Netflix and is even generating awards buzz, with many predicting Emmy nominations this summer for Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.
When Will “Nobody Wants This” Season 2 Come Out?
While an exact release date hasn’t been confirmed, Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime later this year. Production started in March and the cast is busy filming in Los Angeles.

Paparazzi captured photos of the cast filming what appeared to be a Halloween-themed episode, suggesting that the new season may premiere ahead of Halloween.

Are There New Characters Coming in Season 2?
Absolutely. Several fresh faces are joining the ensemble for the show’s second run. Leighton Meester—Adam Brody’s real-life wife and “Gossip Girl” alum—will portray Abby, the former high school rival of Bell’s character Joanne. Abby is now a social media-savvy mommy influencer.
Miles Fowler (“Bottoms”) has been cast as Lenny, a teammate of Brody’s Noah on his Matzah Ballers basketball team, who’s also being set up as a potential romantic interest for Joanne’s sister Morgan, played by Justine Lupe.
Alex Karpovsky (“Girls”) will play Big Noah, a self-assured rabbi at Noah’s synagogue. Arian Moayed (“Succession”) is stepping in as Dr. Andy, a therapist who may also find chemistry with Morgan.
The core cast remains intact. Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, and Timothy Simons will all be back. Simons plays Sasha Roklov, Noah’s brother. Jackie Tohn, who portrays Sasha’s wife Esther, has been promoted to a series regular this season.
“Nobody Wants This” Season 1 Recap
The debut season focused on the unconventional romance between Joanne, a secular podcaster (Bell), and Noah, a devoted rabbi (Brody). Their love story kicked off after a chance meeting at a dinner party and was loosely based on Erin Foster’s own life.

Foster, who co-created the series, also hosts a podcast and fell for a Jewish man—ultimately converting to Judaism herself. She and her sister Sara Foster, through their production label The Fatigue Sisters, developed the series under a deal with 20th Television.
The season concluded with a major turning point: Joanne confesses to Noah that she isn’t ready to convert to Judaism. Realizing he can’t have both her and the promotion to head rabbi, she tries to end things. But Noah chooses her—he follows her, agrees with her decision, and kisses her.
Season 2 is expected to explore the emotional consequences of Noah’s decision to prioritize his relationship over his career ambitions. The impact of giving up the head rabbi position may introduce tension or unspoken resentment—either from Noah himself or from others in his community who don’t understand his choice.
Meanwhile, Joanne’s hesitations about converting to Judaism remain unresolved. While she wasn’t ready to take that step in Season 1, the topic may continue to be a point of discussion between them, as they navigate what a shared future could look like—personally, culturally, and spiritually.
