The family and friends of a Western Australian man missing in Mexico are appealing for help to find him, after not hearing from him for almost a month.

Interpol has joined the search, issuing a yellow alert notice for 35-year-old Jesse Bruzzese, whose family is from Mandurah, south of Perth.

Yellow alert notices are global police alerts to help look for a missing person.

Appealing for public help on social media, Mr Bruzzese’s family said he last spoke to them on June 3.

“Jesse has been travelling overseas and we’ve been unable to confirm where he is or whether he is okay,” the social media posts say.

“His last known location was in Riviera Maya, Cancun, Mexico.

“If you have had any contact with him, or have any info that may confirm he is safe and well, please reach out to our family privately or contact police.”

The family reported him missing to WA Police and said the missing person unit was investigating.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian reported missing in Mexico.

Distinctive tattoos

The Interpol notice said Mr Bruzzese, who is an Australian and Italian national, was likely to have visited Cambodia, Mexico, the United States, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Indonesia.

It noted that he had a tattoo on his inner left arm of a woman’s face and a person with wings, and on his upper left arm, tattoos of roman numerals, hands holding a clock face and roses.

On his left shoulder he has tattoos of an eagle and wings spread over the left side of his chest.

He is 1.76 metres tall with brown eyes.

WA Police said they were aware of reports that Mr Bruzzese was missing and were supporting DFAT with its inquiries.
