A This Morning star has taken a withering swipe at Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray after comments he made about Sharia law that saw him scolded by ITV bosses.
Former show contributor regular Emma Kenny unleashed her fiery response on social media after Mr Ray, 51, appeared to endorse Sharia law.
TV presenter Adil is said to have been ‘hauled in’ by ‘very cross’ GMB bosses following the segment, after he congratulated fellow Muslim Zohran Mamdani on his stateside victory becoming New York mayor by praising the values behind Sharia law in a social media post.
In the post in which he appeared to back the new mayor bringing in the religious code Sharia, which has been severely criticised by women’s rights groups for its pro-male stance, he wrote: ‘Some say Mamdani may implement Sharia Law.
‘He might. The heart of Sharia is social justice, welfare, fairness, charity and cohesion.
‘Most Muslim countries operate a hybrid of Sharia and civil law and are slowly reforming and abandoning unethical practices despite the West’s portrayal.’

A source told The Sun that Good Morning Britain (GMB) bosses were particularly furious as Ray’s comments clashed with ITV’s high profile talks with Sky.
They said: ‘GMB execs are pretty cross. His comments sent bosses into a tailspin and he was called in. It was a nightmare as hours earlier ITV revealed it was in talks to sell its broadcasting arm to Sky in a £1.6billion deal. Obviously, they don’t want anything to derail that.’
Following backlash, Mr Ray returned to social media to, writing: ‘To clarify. I am not actually suggesting Mamdani would implement “Sharia law”.
‘But many of the issues he campaigned for are also some of the positive values of Sharia that Muslims try to live by. Something many of us would agree on.’
It sparked former This Morning star Emma, the show’s resident psychologist who was removed from air during the Covid pandemic over controversial views on coronavirus lockdown rules, to hit back.
Taking a swipe at Mr Ray, she penned on X, formerly Twitter: ‘Just some light stoning, a pinch of beheading and a little touch of female subjugation…..what’s not to like?’
The divisive post was seen by nearly 300,000 users, who flooded the comments both to praise and hit back at her response.
One wrote: ‘3 good points there Emma! Maybe he should answer those allegations on TV! Let’s see if he backs those cultural values,’ as a second agreed: ‘Ray is on another planet.’
While a third hit back: ‘I’m a Muslim and none of the things you mention have ever been part of my life or any other Muslim families that I know.’
A fourth added: ‘Thought better of you Emma, but hey ho.’

Fans responded to the message on X with their own views
Emma was a former familiar face on the ITV daytime series, but was dumped from the lineup for her views on the lockdown and government restrictions in 2020.
In posts that were later deleted, the psychologist said she would ignore the guidelines set by the Government in the run up to Christmas.
‘I’m going to have parties, see my friends, invite EVERYONE around,’ she penned in one. ‘I’m going to visit elderly neighbours and take cake, I’m not wearing a mask and I’m going to do what as a human I was born to do… socialise.’
In another she wrote: ‘Just want to check in with you Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock just to politely inform you that I’m declining your tiers because you have no evidence to base them on!
‘The law of the land must be based on the interests of the population. I’m taking back my kids’ future.’
She also suggested that ‘vaccines will damage more children than they will help’ and alleged that ‘mandated vaccines mean child abuse’.
Her outburst followed a report that Australian airline Qantas airline would require passengers to be vaccinated before being allowed to fly.
