Anna Faris and Regina Hall will reunite for the upcoming spoof sequel

The Scary Movie franchise is back to make a new generation shriek — with laughter.

The original Scary Movie was released in 2000, and spawned four horror spoof sequels, with the most recent being 2013’s Scary Movie 5.

In April 2024, it was revealed that a new Scary Movie was in the works, and in October of that year Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenan Ivory Wayans announced they were reuniting to write the script.

Marlon said Scary Movie 6 will be “no holds barred and equal opportunity offenders.”

“It’s how we always do it,” he told Entertainment Weekly in September 2025. “We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves.”

Scary Movie 6 will parody some of the recent horror hits, and it will also be a reunion for original Scary Movie cast members, like Anna Faris and Regina Hall.

What is Scary Movie 6 about?

The plot details for Scary Movie 6 haven’t been revealed, but Marlon has teased which horror movies might be parodied in the sure-to-be silly sequel.

“I Know What You Did Last Summer may have something in there. I think the Scream franchise is always a great one,” he told ComicBook.com in September 2025. “I think Heretic was a wonderful film.”

Marlon continued, “Longlegs. Get Out. Nope. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. Sinners.”

Scary Movie 6 has been described as a “reboot” of the franchise, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“We got the gloves off. We’re going R. We’re going to have the same fun and the same kind of tone and Wayans flavor that we gave on the first one,” Marlon told PEOPLE in March 2025.

Who is in the Scary Movie 6 cast?

Scary Movie 6 will be a reunion for multiple cast members from the original Scary Movie.

Notably, Faris and Hall — who starred in the first four Scary Movies — are returning.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.),” the actresses said in a joint statement to Deadline when their casting was confirmed.

Scary Movie‘s Marlon, Shawn, Lochlyn Monroe, Jon Abrahams and Dave Sheridan are also back for the upcoming sequel.

According to Deadline, Cheri Oteri — who appeared in Scary Movie — and Chris Elliott, who was in Scary Movie 2 and Scary Movie 4, are in the cast of the sixth spoof.

New actors joining the franchise for Scary Movie 6 include Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans and Heidi Gardner.

Who is directing Scary Movie 6?

Scary Movie 6 is directed by Michael Tiddes.

He has previously directed other parody movies including A Haunted House, A Haunted House 2 and Fifty Shades of Black.

Is there a trailer for Scary Movie 6?

A trailer for Scary Movie 6 debuted in theaters before Scream 7.

As of Feb. 27, the preview was not available online, but Marlon did post a video on Instagram, “bootlegging” the trailer, quickly showing some footage as he watched it in the theater.
